Principal’s Letter

Dear Grand View Families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner, and we are so excited to connect with you! These conferences are a wonderful opportunity to celebrate your child’s progress, share their growth, and work together on next steps for continued success.

We truly value the partnership we share with you and appreciate the time you take to be a part of these important conversations. Thank you for working alongside us to support your child’s learning and growth every day.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

Francesca

Our Mission

At Grand View, we empower curious, young leaders through an inclusive, loving and collaborative community rooted in empathy, trust, and integrity.

Our Vision

As a leadership focused school, Grand View fosters a nurturing environment where risk-taking is encouraged through hands-on learning and design thinking experiences. We focus on being open-minded while developing meaningful relationships and upholding high expectations.

October Student Count

Beginning September 24th through October 8th, St. Vrain Valley Schools will begin our annual student count window.  It is important for students to be in school during this time period in order to have an accurate student count. This is how the school district and schools receive their annual funding from the state. We ask that you do your best to schedule appointments, trips, or other activities outside of this window.  October 1st is the most important date and we ask that students attend on this day. Of course, if your child is seriously ill we ask that you keep them home.  We thank you for your help and participation!

Reminder – No Late Start in October

Parent/Teacher Conferences are coming!

The dates for the upcoming conferences are September 30,  October 2, & 8.  It is our goal to have 100% of our families meet with their child’s teacher on one of these three nights!

You should have already received an e-mail with the instructions on how to sign up for a conference with your child’s teacher! Contact your child’s teacher or the front office if you still need to schedule a conference.

Reminders for Families:

  • Please remind your students they are not allowed to use electronic devices to call you during school hours. We would like them to come to the office to call parents, if necessary. This will help us to provide the right amount of support for your student. All cell phones need to be kept in their backpacks
  • If at any time you need to get a hold of your student, please call the front office and we will contact your student during school hours.
  • If you are picking up your student during school hours, you must present a photo ID. Please remember to report your child’s absence or tardy to 303-702-8000 or email: [email protected]
  • Our office staff is always available to answer your questions- 303-702-8000

Library News

This October in the Library, we’re celebrating community and new beginnings! We’ll kick off the month with our much-anticipated Scholastic Book Fair, a perfect opportunity for students and families to find new stories and expand their home libraries. Throughout the month, we’ll also honor Hispanic Heritage Month with special readings that highlight rich cultures and traditions. Our story times will feature engaging books that explore themes of life transitions and the importance of practicing kindness and community. It’s a month filled with fun, learning, and connection, can’t wait to dive in together!

2nd Grade News

Second grade classes attended the annual Sandstone Ranch field trip again this this year to answer the science question “How do organisms depend on their habitat to meet their needs?,”   Students were able to get hands on experience attending 4 exploratory stations including insect studies on land and in water, human impact on the environment, and bird watching.

This station was a particular favorite as we were able to see 3 bald eagles.  Students were also able to learn map skills and use compass directions to determine their location in reference to set points on the landscape.  All in all, it was a great learning experience.

A group of people, mostly children, are collecting samples in a grassy field near a body of water under a clear blue sky.

Hug-N-Go Lane

When dropping your students off in the Hug-N-Go Lane, we need families to pull through to the south end of the lane. This will help alleviate the traffic on Aggregate Blvd and help students get to school on time. Please have your students ready with backpacks and other belongings so they can just be dropped off. If you want to get out of the car and help your students, please park in the front parking lot and help them get ready. The HUG-N-GO Lane needs to be quick and easy for all families. Also, please pay attention to the cars trying to get out of the HUG-N-GO Lane so we can allow others to go through the lane. We appreciate your attention to this matter and continued support to keep our students and families safe.

Our Bison Ambassadors have been actively honing their leadership skills
through a variety of service projects. This year, we’re excited to partner with Coats for Colorado, Toys for Tots, and the Longmont Humane Society, along with engaging in weekly campus beautification efforts. We are proud to represent our student body and community in these positive initiatives!
Starting October 1, bring any gently used or new coat (any size), any new toy
(unwrapped/in the box), or supplies for pets (dogs, cats, hamsters, birds) to our
collection box in the Main Office for our Fall Outreach.

Families who believe they may qualify for free or reduced-price meals are encouraged to complete an application by Oct. 1. While all St. Vrain Valley students receive one free breakfast and one free lunch daily through Colorado’s Healthy School Meals for All program, submitting an application provides additional benefits to families such as fee waivers, college exam discounts, and reduced internet and utility costs, and also helps bring federal funding to support classrooms, after-school programs, technology, and additional meals and snacks for students. Applications are available online or at Nutrition Services, 2929 Clover Basin Dr., Longmont.
