Principal’s Letter
Dear Grand View Families,
We are incredibly grateful for your amazing support during this year’s Bison Stampede! Thanks to your generosity, we raised around $30,000 to support our students and school community. These funds will go toward field trip transportation, community events, and student instructional materials—all of which directly benefit our students’ learning experiences.
As we move into the holiday season, we encourage everyone to take time to cherish your families and loved ones. Our Grand View community is so special because of the care and support you show—not only to your own children but to our entire school family.
Please remember that we’re here for you. If your family needs any support during this time, don’t hesitate to reach out and let us know how we can help.
Thank you for being such a wonderful and generous community. Together, we continue to make Grand View a place where every Bison can thrive!
With gratitude,
Francesca
Our Mission

Bison in the Spotlight!

Congratulations to Lily Salaz and Ryker Schindler, who recently showcased their incredible talents in the Northglenn Youth Theatre’s production of Finding Nemo the Musical!
Lily brought multiple characters to life on stage as Anchor the Shark, a Turtle, and a Moonfish, while Ryker made waves in the starring role as Nemo himself!
We’re so proud of these two Bison for their hard work, creativity, and dedication to the performing arts. Way to go, Lily and Ryker—you both shined brightly under the spotlight!

We are thrilled to highlight a truly inspiring accomplishment from one of our very own students: Reis, who recently served as a “Kid Correspondent” with the Denver Broncos in partnership with Children’s Hospital Colorado.
Since birth, Reis has lived with the condition known as Microtia—a congenital difference in ear development—yet she has embraced this challenge with courage, positivity, and purpose. As she shared:
“Being born with Microtia means that I can’t hear like other people. It also means that I am smart, kind, funny and amazing… It also means that I get to teach other people to love themselves no matter what.”
As part of her Kid Correspondent role, Reis toured the Broncos’ facility, asked thoughtful questions, and conducted a live-interview with linebacker Alex Singleton. She asked about his favorite ice-cream sundae toppings, what he loves about football, and even who was the better dancer—him or her! (Her vote, of course, was in her own favor!)
What stood out most about Reis’s experience was not just the glamour of being a “reporter” for a day, but the message she embodies: hard work, self-belief, kindness, and using one’s story to uplift others. She wrote:
“I will work hard, practice, learn from my mistakes and show everyone love and kindness, too.”
We at Grand View are so proud of Reis. Her achievement reminds us that every student has the power to overcome obstacles, embrace their unique journey, and inspire others in the process.
Please join us in congratulating Reis on this remarkable experience. May her story encourage all of us—students, staff, and families—to believe in our strengths, embrace our differences, and boldly pursue opportunities to shine.

Go Broncos! Go Bison!
Hug-N-Go Lane
When dropping your students off in the Hug-N-Go Lane, we need families to pull through to the south end of the lane. This will help alleviate the traffic on Aggregate Blvd and help students get to school on time. Please have your students ready with backpacks and other belongings so they can just be dropped off. If you want to get out of the car and help your students, please park in the front parking lot and help them get ready. The HUG-N-GO Lane needs to be quick and easy for all families. Also, please pay attention to the cars trying to get out of the HUG-N-GO Lane so we can allow others to go through the lane. We appreciate your attention to this matter and continued support to keep our students and families safe.
Reminder of Hug-N-Go Expectations from 8:45am-9:05am and 3:30pm-3:50pm
No parking in any area of the lane. If you need to help your child out/in the car, need to watch them walk into the building, would like to watch them until the bell rings, any scenario besides a quick drop off please utilize the parking lot.
Please pull all the way forward. This ensures that we are able to fit as many cars as possible into the drop off lane. Abrupt stopping or not pulling all the way forward can not only cause accidents, but it holds up the rest of the line. We understand that it could be a lot to ask your children to walk further to the door. But following these expectations helps our herd as a whole by ensuring all our students are getting into the building quickly and efficiently. We appreciate everyone’s patience during these busy times! Remember when in doubt, park in the parking lot.
Reminders for Families:
- Please remind your students they are not allowed to use electronic devices to call you during school hours. We would like them to come to the office to call parents, if necessary. This will help us to provide the right amount of support for your student. All cell phones need to be kept in their backpacks
- If at any time you need to get a hold of your student, please call the front office and we will contact your student during school hours.
- If you are picking up your student during school hours, you must present a photo ID. Please remember to report your child’s absence or tardy to 303-702-8000 or email: [email protected]
- Our office staff is always available to answer your questions- 303-702-8000
- Jo Jo Charles, Principal’s Secretary, [email protected]
- Traci Montgomery, Registrar/Attendance Clerk [email protected]

Library News
Library Corner: Embracing the Seasons of Change!
This month in the library, we’re diving into the exciting theme of Seasons of Change! Just as the leaves outside are transforming into brilliant reds, yellows, and oranges, we’re exploring what it means for things in our lives and nature to change.
We’re making the comparison between the beautiful shifts happening all around us and the changes we see and experience every day.
Learning Station Adventures
Our hands-on learning stations are bringing this theme to life! Students are engaging in creative activities to represent the changes they observe:
- Drawing the vibrant colors and different shapes of fall leaves.
- Building models that show the process of different transitions.
- Making our own colorful paper leaves to create a beautiful representation of change right here in our classroom.
Ask your student about their favorite fall color or a change they’ve noticed lately! We’re having a blast observing, discussing, and celebrating this wonderful time of transition.
Art News
Art class has become a place of excitement and creativity! Your students are currently working on developing their ideation and compositional skills across all grade levels.
5th, 4th, and 3rd just learned about silhouettes. We also learned about warm and cool colors.
2nd and 1st just made collage fish tanks using a variety of scraps, colors, textures, and shapes.
I am so proud of our students!

Our Bison Cafe Holiday Meal for students this year is on Thursday November 13th, and our department is NOT able to provide enough food for outside adults (families, parents, grandparents, etc.) Since we are feeding all students for free this year, we were only able to obtain enough Turkey and side dishes for all the students in our district, and not additional adults or parents (even though they would be paying for their own meals, we simply cannot get enough food for all.) Thanks for your understanding!
Friday Food Bags
Grand View Elementary is partnering with a local volunteer network to provide “Friday Food Bags” for families in need. Bags will be sent home each Friday with a variety of items such as: cereal, milk, juice, snacks, etc. There is NO COST to participate in this program and all are welcome. If you are interested in participating please complete the following SURVEY. For further questions you can contact the school counselor, Mrs. Malone ([email protected])

Santa Cops
The Santa Cops Program is an ongoing effort to provide gifts and necessities to children in need during the holiday season. The funding for this program is limited and intended only for those that are truly in need. All referrals will be reviewed and undergo an approval process; not all applicants will qualify. Once referrals are processed and approved, the different police agencies will distribute gifts to children in Mid-December 2024. If you are interested in applying, you can apply online at https://www.frederickco.gov/226/Community-Programs.
If you would prefer a paper copy of this application, please stop by the front office at Grand View to pick one up. The window to apply is October 28th-November 25th.
You can also get an application at the Frederick Police Department located at 333 5th Street in Frederick. For further information, contact Mrs. Malone, Counselor at Grand View. ([email protected])
Thank you!

Along with our Fall Outreach Collection, the Student Council is excited to take on a local service project: Creating Hand Tied Blankets for Children’s Hospital.
Children’s hospital recently shared that they are in great need of hand-tied blankets for their patients – and we want to help!
How can we help:
- We are collecting Polar Fleece fabric donations – sizes are included in this link.
- At our October 27 meeting, Student Council members will be tying and assembling the blankets together.
- Once complete, I will deliver them to the Children’s North Campus
Let’s come together to spread warmth and comfort to children in need this fall!
