The months ahead will be filled with special events, parent–teacher conferences, and many opportunities to partner with our school community. We look forward to continuing to work closely with you to support your child’s growth and celebrate their successes.

Counseling Update

During the first trimester, students in grades K–5 participated in classroom-based social-emotional learning lessons focused on building emotional awareness, empathy, and healthy coping skills.

  • Kindergarten students learned about the role of the school counselor and what they can expect when working with a counselor.
  • 1st Grade students participated in a lesson focused on friendship skills and being a good friend.
  • 2nd Grade students read a book about understanding other people’s feelings and engaged in a whole-group discussion about empathy.
  • 3rd Grade students read Empathy Is Your Superpower and completed an activity practicing how to show empathy in different real-life situations.
  • 4th Grade students watched a video about stress management and practiced positive strategies for managing stress.
  • 5th Grade students learned about kindness, empathy, gratitude, the difference between being an upstander and a bystander, stress management, and created personal self-care plans.

These lessons support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral development and help build skills they can use both in and out of the classroom. Be sure and ask your child about what they have learned with Mrs. Malone.

Art News

Wow, what a brilliant time our artist have been having at Grand View. We have made a ton of progress in multiple art forms!

Our students are going to keep using new materials. Students will begin working on mixed-media art this spring, including using recycled goods and old art materials to create new things. We will also look at more famous artists, share ideas via writing, and complete a variety of projects.

I can’t wait to see what our students continue to create!

Library News

Welcome back! The Grand View Elementary Library is ready to kick off the new year by embracing innovation and renewal and re-establishing our routines after the winter break.

This month, we are all about exploring creativity and understanding new processes! Students are engaging in fun, hands-on activities like:

  • Creating their own comics to explore storytelling and visual narrative.
  • Using Lego-building to construct and write unique stories.

We will also be reading stories about exploration and making new discoveries to inspire our students!

We look forward to a creative and productive start to the new year!

4th Grade News

Our 4th-grade researchers recently transformed the cafeteria into a bustling hub of scientific discovery for their Animal Symposium Showcase. This event served as the grand finale for two major areas of study: the “Human Machines” science unit and a literacy unit focused on expert research. The students
curated many different exhibits to show their learning around how internal and external structures help plants and animals survive and grow.

We are looking forward to our next tournament on January 31st at Timberline K-8 in Longmont. Go Bison-Bots!

Hug-N-Go Lane

When dropping your students off in the Hug-N-Go Lane, we need families to pull through to the south end of the lane. This will help alleviate the traffic on Aggregate Blvd and help students get to school on time. Please have your students ready with backpacks and other belongings so they can just be dropped off. If you want to get out of the car and help your students, please park in the front parking lot and help them get ready. The HUG-N-GO Lane needs to be quick and easy for all families. Also, please pay attention to the cars trying to get out of the HUG-N-GO Lane so we can allow others to go through the lane. We appreciate your attention to this matter and continued support to keep our students and families safe.

Reminder of Hug-N-Go Expectations from 8:45am-9:05am and 3:30pm-3:50pm

No parking in any area of the lane. If you need to help your child out/in the car, need to watch them walk into the building, would like to watch them until the bell rings, any scenario besides a quick drop off please utilize the parking lot.

Please pull all the way forward. This ensures that we are able to fit as many cars as possible into the drop off lane. Abrupt stopping or not pulling all the way forward can not only cause accidents, but it holds up the rest of the line. We understand that it could be a lot to ask your children to walk further to the door. But following these expectations helps our herd as a whole by ensuring all our students are getting into the building quickly and efficiently. We appreciate everyone’s patience during these busy times! Remember when in doubt, park in the parking lot.

Reminders for Families:

  • Please remind your students they are not allowed to use electronic devices to call you during school hours. We would like them to come to the office to call parents, if necessary. This will help us to provide the right amount of support for your student. All cell phones need to be kept in their backpacks
  • If at any time you need to get a hold of your student, please call the front office and we will contact your student during school hours.
  • If you are picking up your student during school hours, you must present a photo ID. Please remember to report your child’s absence or tardy to 303-702-8000 or email: [email protected]
  • Our office staff is always available to answer your questions- 303-702-8000
